Whale Song

It's been a while since I've had a chance to write anything here. I have gone from round like a dolphin to huge like a whale! Ok, not really that big, but some days I feel like it. I made the mistake of wearing a big grey shirt the other day and that didn't help. Andy has been very supportive and assures me I do not look like a cetacean of any kind. Although, amusingly the baby likes when I sing Baby Beluga. It moves around a lot. I played in the final orchestra concert of our season and got a lot of internal response from that as well. The baby is big enough now that when it stretches and kicks it can actually move my cello. It's very strange to watch. Apparently we can add early 19th century music to Gershwin on the baby's list of music it really likes. Also drumming. Andy has taken to drumming with his fingers on my belly when we sit on the couch at night and the baby drums back. It feels so weird but they baby definitely responds more to that activity than almost anything else.

Movement has gotten more forceful but less sharp, if that makes sense. It's stronger, but not so much punches and kicks as rolls and stretches. I still get the occasional kick and it can take my breath away. It has also become much more difficult for me to move. I can't get up off the couch on my own because of the angle of the cushions. Getting in and out of bed is also quite an ordeal. My muscles are just confused it seems. I try to walk as much as I can. I sort of alternate between waddling and rolling my hips like a horse. I look silly but it is much more comfortable on my back. I'm going to be participating in a Relay for Life in a couple of weeks so the waddling around is good practice:) If anyone is interested in donating to my Relay here is the link to my page

Food wise I'm still on a dairy kick. I've always liked yogurt and lately I just can't get enough. Especially greek style. Best. Food. Ever. Also wanting lots of fruits and veggies. Delia made my day and sent me an Edible Arrangement at work. It was so pretty and tasty! It also made me feel so loved. Stupid hormones, I almost cried at work :) Definitely satisfied the fruit craving!

I'm going to work on posting to this blog more frequently. I think if I post less content I can get myself to dedicate the time. Andy and I are starting some new ventures that are taking up a lot of time in addition to baby prep. We'll keep you all posted.

And for those of you who want more pictures. I have some back logged here. We're having some technical issues accessing the back end of the photo page so these will get moved there as well eventualy, but for now I'll post photos to the blog page. I think we have a few more pictures on the camera we're borrowing, but we need to get new batteries. I'll get them up as soon as I can. These pictures are all from a few months ago. I'll get Andy to take a belly shot so you can see why I feel like a beluga myself at times :)

Our current family members:

Andy and me with George Sand, our crazy dog who is apparently part Falcor part Gozer (just look at those glowing eyes). She also puts up with a lot.

Me modeling part of a care package sent to us by our friends Jason and Crystal. There's an awesome bib with whale sharks on it that I'll have to get a picture of. I love it.

Marco Polo, the biggest/littlest of our menagerie. He's the oldest but the smallest. Not the best picture of him but he doesn't like paparazzi attention.

Ota Dokan, our samurai kitty. He likes to sleep in George's crate. It frustrates George. She gets confused as to why there is a cat on her bed, but she won't make him get out. She also let's Marco eat her food with the same frustrated look.

I was sleepy in this picture, please excuse the puffiness:) Kyrie modeling the sling Delia got us. She is the twoface queen of the menagerie.

Belenus helping model. He is the baby and the brat. I made the mistake of naming him after a celtic deity and now he really does think he is a god. We love him :) He puts up with just as much bothering as he dishes out.

A picture of just George. She puts up with a lot. She is the littlest/biggest. She's the youngest but the largest. Amusingly, she and Marco are buddies. She also puts up with a lot from us. She's a great dog. And she speaks french!
So there is a photo introduction to our current family. I'll get more pics up later!
