Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Seriously, are we there yet?! 39 weeks today! I am so ready to meet this baby. We are mostly moved in to our new place and all of the baby stuff is ready to go, now we just need a baby to put in it! I have been having braxton-hicks contractions (practice contractions) for a couple of weeks now and am ready to get going. We had a doctor's appointment this morning which went well. The doctor laughed because when she was feeling around on my belly to check the baby, it started sticking its little behind up in the air and stretching its legs out. My stomach looked like a weird ski slope. Also the baby's heartbeat continues to be good and strong. There isn't much room to move in the belly so it is also very quick to find the heartbeat. When it was smaller the baby would wiggle around so much it was hard to pinpoint.

The hospital here won't admit you until you have reached a certain point of dilation and effacement (basically, a measurement of the body's readiness)which I am now at. All we need now is for active labor to actually kick in. Unfortunately, I could sit around at this stage for another week or more. No one really knows what causes labor to start. There are a few different theories but nothing definite, so while I have all the signs that labor should start soon, that doesn't really mean much. The upside is that my readiness is so much more than it was last week, so I am hoping that means it won't be another week 'til labor. I'm really hoping that we'll have happy news to send out very very soon. Send all the "baby get out thoughts" you can this way! I'll post another belly shot and some more pictures up here soon.
